Student Services
Academic Advisement
The College provides advisement and guidance in helping students to map
out their academic program and to make the right career decisions. The Office of Advisement and
Career Services assists students in exploring their interests, identifying
career options and choosing a major. Various instruments and tests are utilized to
supplement individual one-on-one counseling sessions. The staff also provides confidential
personal guidance.
At registration, as well as during the semester, mentors help students to
select appropriate courses in order to satisfy all requirements necessary for their major.
Tutoring in selected fields such as mathematics and the natural sciences is provided as
a free service by peer tutors and others.
Students interested in pursuing graduate degrees in such fields as business (MBA),
computer science, health sciences, law, and psychology are counseled regarding all steps of the
application process, including the required admission tests, and are given guidance in
selecting appropriate professional schools.
Career placement specialists provide job counseling and assist students seeking
internships, part-time and full-time employment. They conduct workshops and help students
to develop effective job search skills, particularly in such areas as researching the job
market, resume preparation and interviewing strategies.
