Language Develpment in the Context of the Disciplines Program (LDCD)





New York City Teachers of Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and English Language Arts (Grades 6 – 12) are invited by the New York City Department of Education Office of English Language Learners (ELLs) and the Touro College Lander Center for Educational Research to participate in the LDCD Program, which includes: Free tuition for three courses at Touro College (nine credits) Trends and Current Issues in Second Language Acquisition more information... Teaching Reading and Writing for Second Language Learners more information... Second Language Learners and the Content Areas more information... Sponsorship to one QTEL Institute more information... Opportunity to participate in up to 36 additional hours of free TESOL-related professional development through conferences, study groups, and a summer institute – applicable to New York State’s requirement of 175 hours per five years for certification more information... Opportunity to apply to apply to Touro College’s Master’s degree program in TESOL more information... Participants in the LDCD Program must complete all three courses within two years. Up to 40 teachers will be accepted into the LDCD Program this year. Participants pay a registration fee of $100 per semester.
