devoted to Birth-Grade 6 and the second half

field work with a child with reading disabilities
and presentation of case studies by students.

acquisition as related to methods of teaching,
listening, speaking, reading and writing in the
bilingual/multicultural classroom. Examination
of current pedagogical methodology, assessment

needs of the bilingual student and the multicultural
classroom. Coursework will focus on birth through
grade six in the first half of the semester and
grades five through twelve in the second half.

the focus on creating a balanced literacy program.Children's
literature is examined within the context of literacy

be explored. Students will learn effective instructional
practices for teaching reading for information,
report writing, and using writing to foster literary
understanding. Providing for individual differences
in literacy instruction in the junior and senior
