The M.S. Degree in Mental Health Counseling is designed to train students to work in a variety of mental health settings (e.g., clinics, hospitals, counseling centers, rehabilitation facilities, outreach programs, after care centers, private practice). Those seeking to become full or part time mental health professionals will find a career in this field to be both challenging and filled with many opportunities.
Faculty members offer classroom or online instruction, based on their knowledge and professional experiences. graduates of our program will acquire the necessary skills to become mental health professionals prepared to meet the needs of clients and the challenges of a mental health career.
After 3,000 post Master’s degree hours in an entry-level position, graduates of the M.S. in Mental Health Counseling program are eligible to apply to take the New York State Examination for licensure in New York State. More information is available at: http://www.op.nysed.gov/mhp.htm
