		Licensed Mental Health Counseling... A Rewarding Career Helping Others (Meets all academic requirements for Licensure in New York State) The M.S. Degree in Mental Health Counseling is designed to train students to work in a variety of mental health settings (e.g., clinics, hospitals, counseling centers, rehabilitation facilities, outreach programs, after care centers, private practice). Those seeking to become full or part time mental health professionals will find a career in this field to be both challenging and filled with many opportunities. Faculty members offer classroom or online instruction, based on their knowledge and professional experiences. graduates of our program will acquire the necessary skills to become mental health professionals prepared to meet the needs of clients and the challenges of a mental health career. After 3,000 post Master’s degree hours in an entry-level position, graduates of the M.S. in Mental Health Counseling program are eligible to apply to take the New York State Examination for licensure in New York State. 		The mental health counseling field is an emerging field. We are trying to find ways to incorporate the Mental Health Counseling profession into the main stream of mental health services provision. As many of you who have inquired about reimbursement were explained, currently we are not fully reimbursed by all local and federal entities. Hopefully the situation will change soon as we are trying to advocate in Albany and Washington for full reimbursement. 		Student Body to be Served

		Courses are designed for educators and other professionals who are working full-time. Hence, they are offered on evenings and weekends. Interested applicants will be considered for admission without regard to race, creed, religion, sex, national origin, age or disability. The college is particularly interested in recruiting underrepresented groups in the Metropolitan area.
