All applicants must meet the below listed requirements:
1. Completion of a baccalaureate degree or its equivalent from an accredited academic institution (official transcript must be submitted).
2. A minimum undergraduate and graduate grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4-point scale).
3. Provisional or Permanent NYS Certification in Education.
4. Three years of satisfactory teaching experience.
5. A completed Application for Admission to the Graduate Division of the School of Education and Psychology.
6. An application fee of $50.00
7. Personal statement of educational philosophy.
8. Two letters of reference: One letter must com from teacher’s direct supervisor, and the other must come from a district administrator.

Transfer Credits
Students may apply to transfer up to six graduate credits towards the Master of Science Degree in School Building Leadership or School District Leadership. Students must present an Official transcript from all graduate schools at which the courses were taken. A signed Application for Transfer Credit must be completed by the student and approved by an advisor before any credit is granted.

The program in School Administration and Supervision leads to
New York State certification as a
School District Leader
or School Building Leader
Following are the requirements for both certificates:
School District Leader (SDL)
• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
• 60 semester hours of graduate study including a Master's Degree in School District Leadership.
• A supervised internship.
• Three years of satisfactory teaching experience and/or administrative and/or supervisory and/or pupil personnel service experience in the schools (N-12).
School Building Leader (SBL)
• Baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education
• A Master's Degree in School Building Leadership
• A supervised internship.
• Three years of satisfactory teaching experience and/or administrative and/or supervisory and/or pupil personnel service experience in the schools (N-12).
Please Note: Candidates for State Certification must pass a State licensure examination.
Touro College accepts a maximum of six (6) transfer credits for previous graduate work completed at an accredited college or university for courses that are similar in content to courses offered in the School Leadership Program.
