Professors Lauer and Sutton to address the Sixth International
Conference on the Holocaust and Education at Yad Vashem
Prof. Theodore Lauer, chairman of the History Department at Touro College,
and Dr. Karen Sutton, assistant professor of History, will jointly
address the Sixth International Conference on the Holocaust and
Education on July 8th, 2008, at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, Israel.
Profs. Lauer and Sutton wll be presenting a workshop on the topic of "American Jewish Orthodox
Response to the Holocaust." Their research and papers intend to showcase
the work done by the Vaad Hatzalah and associated groups in relief
and rescue work during the World War II years.
The International conference is held every two years, and
approximately 800 scholars and teachers of Holocaust studies
worldwide participate.

Computer Science Deputy Chair Invited to Present at Cengage Learning Conference
Professor Shmuel Fink, Deputy Chair of the Department of Computer Science at Touro College,
was invited by Course Technology to present at the Cengage Learning
Conference held this year on March 12-14 at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel in
Nashville, Tennessee. The title of his presentation was "Google: Not Just a
Search Engine Anymore". It focused on the various ways in which Google can
be utilized by the classroom teacher. Google's productivity and
collaboration tools were emphasized. PowerPoint slides of the presentation

The conference featured a full range of sessions geared to introduce college
professors from around the country to the latest technologies. Professor
Fink's presentation had over 50 attendees and received very positive
feedback.
