Touro Granted Charter from Phi Alpha Theta
Professor Theodore Lauer, chairman of the History Department,
has been informed by Phi Alpha Theta (The National History Honor
Society) that Touro College has been granted a charter for a local
chapter of Phi Alpha Theta.
This distinction has been granted to Touro based on the quality
of its faculty, and the quality of its program in History.
Phi Alpha Theta is the second-largest Academic Honor Society in the
United States and has chapters at all the major Colleges and
Universities.
Students who take a minimum of 15 credits in History can be
nominated for induction into Phi Alpha Theta. Phi Alpha Theta will
also serve as the History "club" for the college, sponsoring lectures,
trips and other events.
Dr. Karen Sutton, Assistant Professor of History and a member
of Phi Alpha Theta, will serve as the Faculty Advisor for the
Touro chapter.
