Here is an update on what Touro College has been doing in response to the indictments of three former employees by the Manhattan District Attorney:
Touro College has been working closely with The New York State Education Department (NYSED) to put in place a procedure to allow NYSED to resume issuing professional licenses and teacher certifications to Touro graduates. The procedure is expected to be in place shortly, and NYSED has assured Touro that its staff will give expeditious handling to Touro graduates whose requests for certifications have temporarily been put on hold.
We are reaching out to externship programs to assure them that we are sending them only fully-qualified students and that there is no reason for any concern about Touro students' qualifications or credentials.
We are also promptly responding to any employers, agencies, organizations or individuals seeking clarification or information related to this matter.
Touro is doing everything possible to protect the integrity of every hard-earned Touro credential and the interests of our students and graduates.
Please remember that the Office of the Registrar has established a hotline to promptly respond to any inquiries that students or their employers, potential employers, or any graduate or professional programs may have regarding student records. Please call 212-292-5540 or e-mail to registrarinfo@touro.edu if you have any questions.
We will continue to provide updates as further developments occur.
Thank you.
