Certificate in Real Estate Advisement (non-credit, in partnership with the Real Estate Academy)
The Program
This 5-course, non-credit certificate program, offered in partnership with the Real Estate Academy, represents a new era in residential real estate professional development. The program provides key industry knowledge and advisory sales best practices enabling participants to acquire 21st century-based knowledge and skills in order to build a successful sales agent practice. Students who complete the program earn the title CRA (Certified Residential Advisor) and satisfy their New York State continuing education licensure requirement.
Course of Study
The certificate program in Real Estate Advisement consists of five courses comprising 75 hours of training. The courses can be taken in any order.

- CRA 100 The Power of Technologies: Business Building Through Computer and Internet Technologies
- CRA 101 Advisory-Based Selling
- CRA 102 Business and Legal Foundations for Real Estate Professionals
- CRA 103 *Marketing Residential Real Estate in the 21st Century Knowledge Age
- CRA 104 *Trends and Issues in the 21st Century: Global Real Estate Markets
*Completion of these two courses by NYS real estate licensees satisfies the 22½ hour continuing education requirement for their current two-year renewal period.
Who Should Enroll?
Real estate professionals interested in increasing their sales production by earning the industry's benchmark professional certificate. Students must hold a valid sales agent license. Qualifying Courses
Salesperson: Course increased from 45 hours to 75 hours. A salesperson applicant will be required to show proof of completing 75 hours of approved education. Those salesperson applicants who completed the 45 hour salesperson course prior to July 1, 2008 may complete the additional 30 hour qualifying course to satisfy the 75 hour requirement.
Broker: A broker applicant will be required to show proof of completing 120 hours of approved education. Broker applicants will be required to show proof of completing the 45 hour salesperson course, the 30 hour remedial course and the 45 hour broker course OR the 75 salesperson course and the 45 hour broker course.
Continuing Education
Effective with renewals that expire on or after July 1, 2008, applicants must complete 22.5 hours of approved continuing education, in which at least 3 hours must include fair housing and/or discrimination in the sale or rental of real property or an interest in real property. Any real estate broker who is not exempt from the continuing education requirements by July 1, 2008, will no longer be eligible for the exemption. Any currently exempt licensees who do not maintain their consecutive licensure will lose their exemption.
Course Certificates
The Certificate in Residential Real Estate requires the completion of five courses. Upon course completion, real estate licensees will be required to sign and date a statement that they have personally completed each module of the learning program. Upon receipt of your signed statement, the Real Estate Academy will submit a record of your course completion to the Division of Licensing Services for the State of New York. We will also forward you a Certificate of Completion within three weeks.
Approved Provider
Courses available from the Real Estate Academy at Touro Graduate School of Business have been approved by NYS Department of State, Division of Licensing Services. Continuing education credits are only available upon successful completion of all course requirements and submission of a signed "Proof of Course Completion" form.
