The Lander Colleges of Arts and Sciences offer an undergraduate major in Speech and Communications leading to a Bachelor of Science degree. This degree requires completion of 120 credits of coursework, which includes courses in liberal arts, education, speech, and audiology. The objective is to prepare students for entry into a graduate-level program leading to a career working with individuals with speech/language and hearing difficulties in the following settings: clinic, private practice, schools, home care, or hospitals.
Effective 2004, SLP students wishing to obtain certification as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD) are required by the New York State Education Department to continue studying in a Master’s-level program. Upon completion of the Touro Master’s program (and the prescribed education requirements), the SLP candidate is eligible to be recommended for a Professional Certificate for TSSLD.
Undergraduate courses are offered at both the Lander College of Arts and Sciences in Brooklyn and the Lander College for Women in Manhattan. For more information please contact Prof. Lynn Rosenberg at 718-252-7800 extension 343.
