Rabbi Dr. Sokol studied for seven years at the Talmudic Yeshiva of Philadelphia and was ordained at Israel Torah Research Institute (ITRI) in Jerusalem, which was followed by two years of post-semicha study at Yeshiva Torah Vodaath. Rabbi Dr. Sokol received his doctorate in philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a Thyssen Foundation research fellow. He has published extensively in the fields of Jewish philosophy and ethics and has served for 18 years as spiritual leader of the Yavneh Minyan in Flatbush.
Rabbi Soloveichik serves as Rosh Yeshiva at Lander College for Men. He was a student of his father, the late Rabbi Ahron Soloveichik. Prior to joining Beis Medrash L'Talmud, Rabbi Soloveichik was the Segan Rosh HaYeshiva at Yeshivas Brisk in Chicago, where he directed the semicha program and served as posek for the extended yeshiva community.
LCM/Beis Medrash L’Talmud, established in 2000 in Kew Gardens Hills, Queens, has quickly emerged as a destination of choice for outstanding young men committed to the simultaneous pursuit of vigorous Judaic and secular studies. Students share a deep commitment to intensive Talmud study as well as an ability to perform in an academically demanding environment. Most students have completed one or more years of intensive study at yeshivot in Israel. The average SAT score of the current freshman class is 1240, ranking LCM among America’s most highly selective colleges and universities.
Located on a beautiful seven-acre campus in the heart of Queens, the College’s main four-story 79,000 square-foot building houses extensive laboratories, research facilities, lecture halls and classrooms. The campus also includes dorm and athletic facilities.
Graduates of LCM have achieved extraordinary rates of acceptance to professional and graduate schools, and obtained employment at top businesses and corporations. Over 70 percent of LCM graduates who applied to American medical schools were accepted over a recent two-year period, and 100 percent of applicants to dental schools were accepted.
Graduates of the classes of 2006 and 2007 were accepted by such prestigious professional schools and doctoral programs as Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Stanford Law School, Harvard Law School, Yale Law School, Columbia Law School, NYU School of Medicine, Ohio State University College of Medicine, and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Students received job offers and internships at Goldman Sachs, Bear Stearns, Deutsche Bank, Smith Barney, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Merrill Lynch, Deloitte & Touche, KMPG, the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Credit Suisse, Digitas, and many other prominent firms and companies.
