"The College is extremely pleased to be able to bring someone with Dr. Hamlin’s experience to both the faculty and administration of Touro Los Angeles. His unique blend of experience in academic administration, coupled with his teaching and research experience in psychology and education, will surely enable our programs to grow in size and academic excellence," said Dean Esther Lowy. "We are particularly excited about his knowledge of the use of educational technology to enhance teaching as well as his past experience with professional health science and business education and his track record of obtaining successful grants and contract funding."
Said Dr. Hamlin, “I am deeply honored to have been asked to chair the Psychology Department and to join the growing family of Touro institutions of higher education. I am sincerely grateful to be able to assist Dean Lowy and Touro College in the establishment of a Jewish institution of higher learning in Los Angeles. From my perspective, Touro College Los Angeles is critical to the long-term growth of the Los Angeles Orthodox community and I am looking forward to building a dynamic academic program for this community that has been so supportive of my religious growth.”
Dr. Hamlin holds bachelor of science degrees in biology and psychology from Seattle University and a master’s and doctorate in educational psychology from the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington. He has published articles and presented at numerous educational and professional conferences and has received research and educational grants and contracts totaling over $900,000. In addition to teaching in psychology and education, Dr. Hamlin has worked with educational technology for over 15 years, beginning in graduate school where he did research in the field of human-computer interaction up until his most recent position as manager of instructional technology at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Dr. Hamlin hopes to combine his teaching and educational technology experience to create dynamic academic programs at Touro Los Angeles.
