Touro College South
After its successful opening this fall, read more , Touro College South is pleased to report the following publications from its faculty and administration:
• Dean to Publish New Textbook: Dr. Abramson is publishing a major new textbook of Talmud directed at a collegiate audience. Titled “Reading the Talmud: Developing Independence in Gemara Study,” the book will be published by Feldheim Publishers this year. Dr. Abramson is also the author of a scholarly book chapter, “Two Jews, Three Opinions: Politics in the Shtetl at the Turn of the 20th Century,” in Steven Katz, ed.,“The Shtetl: New Perspectives,” New York University Press, forthcoming 2006. His paper, “Entering the Mind of the Rebbe: New Research based on Manuscript Emendations in the Warsaw Ghetto Writings of the Piaseczno Rebbe,” has been accepted for presentation at the 2006 meeting of the Association for Jewish Studies Conference (San Diego). |

• Psychology Department Chair Publishes, Proposes Papers for Conferences: Dr. Avidan Milevsky, chair of the Department of Psychology, is the lead author in a major scholarly article accepted for publication by the prestigious Journal of Child and Family Studies: “Maternal and Paternal Parenting Styles in Adolescents: Associations with Self-Esteem, Depression and Life-Satisfaction.” The area is one in which Dr. Milevsky has developed an international reputation for pioneering research. Dr. Milevsky is also the lead author of two other scholarly articles currently under review for publication in major journals -- “Religiosity in Emerging Adulthood: Familial Variables and Adjustment,” and “Parenting Styles and Patterns of Involvement in Sibling Conflict: Associations with Sibling Relationships in Adolescence.” He also has two papers under review for presentation: “Parent-Child Relationships and Religiosity in Early Adolescence,” Society for Research in Child Development, Boston; and “Qualitative and Quantitative Variations in Adolescent Sibling Relationships,” Society for Research in Child Development, Boston.
• Business Professor Authors Text on Marketing Strategies: Dr. Ron Morritt, associate professor and interim chair of the Department of Business Management and Administration, is the author of a new textbook forthcoming from Haworth Press in 2006 titled “Segmentation Strategies for Hospitality Managers: Target Marketing for Competitive Advantage.” At TCS, Dr. Morritt teaches marketing, management, and business ethics. He holds advanced degrees from Cornell University, Nova Southeastern University and the University of Phoenix. He is the author of numerous scholarly articles in the area of hospitality and marketing strategy.
