Rabbi Azarya Berzon to Join Lander College for Men/Beis Medrash L'Talmud

New York, N.Y. – Dr. Alan Kadish, president and CEO of the Touro College and University System is pleased to announce that Rabbi Azarya Berzon has been appointed as a Rosh Yeshiva in its Lander College for Men/ Beis Medrash L'Talmud.

“I am confident that Rabbi Berzon will add significantly to the spiritual and scholarly growth of his students. He is a master mechanech with exceptional strengths in molding the character and Torah knowledge of his talmidim,” said Dr. Kadish.

Rabbi Berzon has had a long and distinguished career in Jewish education. Rabbi Berzon served as Ram in Yeshivat Hesder Ma'aleh Adumim, as well as senior Ram at Yeshivat Shaalvim from 1981-1991, and founded Yeshiva Sha'arei Mevaseret Zion in 1991, where he served as Rosh Yeshiva until 2009. Rabbi Berzon also founded Michlelet Mevaseret Yerushalayim for women in 1996. Most recently he has served as Co-Rosh Kollel of the Yeshiva University Kollel in Toronto.

A talmid of Harav Yoseph Dov Soloveitchik, zt"l, Rabbi Berzon also studied in Yeshiva Kerem B'Yavneh and Yeshiva Beis Ha'Talmud in Israel, and holds a bachelor’s degree from Queens College and a master’s degree from the New School for Social Research. He has published several seforim and numerous articles as well as hundreds of shiurim online, and is a widely- respected, dynamic maggid shiur and public speaker.

Beis Medrash L'Talmud benefits from the outstanding leadership and Torah scholarship of its senior maggidei shiur; Rabbi Abba Bronspigel, Rabbi Yehuda Parness, Rabbi Yehuda Shmulewitz, and Rabbi Eliyahu Soloveichik. Rabbi Berzon complements these illustrious educators.
