Vallejo, CA – Solano County and Touro University California (Touro) will announce their new partnership at a community event on Monday, October 22 at 5:30 PM at 365 Tuolumne Street, Vallejo, California. This new partnership combines Solano County’s and Touro’s healthcare services allowing an academic team of physicians to join with the County’s community health clinics to better serve the community.
“This partnership exemplifies how public and private entities can work together to identify and address community issues, such as expanding healthcare services to Solano County residents,” stated Bela T. Matyas, MD, MPH, Solano County Health Officer and Deputy Director Solano Public Health.
Touro joined Solano County Health & Social Services, Solano Public Health, Family Health Services’ clinics earlier this year to provide adult and pediatric primary care services in Fairfield, Vacaville, and Vallejo. In addition to Touro expanding the capacity of the clinics to provide primary care, the clinics serve as a teaching environment to prepare Touro medical and physician assistant students to meet the healthcare and education demands of the future.
“Touro is very pleased to partner with Solano County to provide healthcare services to the citizens of Solano, and to introduce future physicians to the needs of the area,” stated Dr. Marilyn Hopkins, COO and Provost for Touro.
Immediately following the presentation in the courtyard at 365 Tuolumne Street, Touro students will provide tours of the Family Health Services clinic in Vallejo. To RSVP for the event, please call 707-784-8600.
