Offerings Build on Touro's Strong Tradition of Excellence in Computer Science and Information Systems.

New York, N.Y. - Dr. Bernard Lander, founder and president of Touro College, today announced the establishment of a new Graduate School of Technology. Registration is underway for fall semester classes that begin October 16th.

Led by Dean Issac Herskowitz, the School will offer a new master of science degree in Information Systems, and will also jointly administer the master of science degree in Instructional Technology, offered by the School of Education and Psychology, Graduate Division, since 2003. The new MS in Information Systems, a 33-credit graduate degree, will focus on preparing students for careers in IT leadership and management of information systems.

The School initially will offer two concentrations - one in database systems and the other in data communications - both currently areas of high demand in the nation. In May 2006, Money magazine ranked jobs in the field of software engineering first, and computer/IT analysis seventh, on a list of the 50 best jobs in America.

"Clearly the new Graduate School of Technology, coupled with the new MS in Information Systems, will be meeting a demand for highly qualified and talented professionals to work in U.S. industry," said Dr. Lander. "With Touro College's strong tradition of excellence in undergraduate computer science and information systems programs, we are perfectly poised to meet this need."

Courses for the MS in Information Systems will be offered at Touro campuses in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Classes will be offered in the evenings and on Sundays to accommodate the needs of working professionals. Although the School is geared mainly towards individuals with undergraduate degrees in computing or information systems, individuals without these credentials may apply for conditional acceptance.
