Vallejo, CA – Touro University California will have a prominent presence this year in San Francisco at the 140th Annual Meeting of the American Public Health Association (APHA), the oldest and largest gathering of public health professionals in the world.
Touro University California (TUC) faculty and staff will make more than two dozen invited presentations at the event this weekend, which is a vast accomplishment for a university of its size.
“The number of invited presentations for a small program like the Master of Public Health (MPH) program at a major conference like APHA is unprecedented and I am exceptionally proud of our MPH faculty and students,” said Dr. Jim O’Connor, Dean of the College of Education and Health Sciences. “The TUC MPH program has a talented, exceptionally hard working faculty who inspire, mentor, and serve as role models for students who are the future of public health.”
The annual meeting, which attracts more than 13,000 national and international physicians, administrators, nurses, educators, researchers, epidemiologists, and related health specialists, will be held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco from October 27- 31, 2012.
“We are proud that our academic programs, such as Public Health, prepare our students to be our nation’s future global leaders,” said Dr. Marilyn Hopkins, Provost and Chief Operating Officer at Touro University California. “Our faculty and staff have helped build on our tradition of excellent teaching and learning and have positioned our students well for future success.”
The Public Health Expo is the largest and most comprehensive public health exhibit featuring more than 700 booths of information, state-of-the-art products, and services geared towards public health professionals.
