The Big Game - TUN vs. TUC
As is tradition, TUN and TUC faced off on the basketball court to see who would take the hammer home.
In what proved to be a nail-biting, last-second, buzzer-beating game, the Touro University California (TUC) Bulls pulled out a victory over the Touro University Nevada (TUN) Matadors, taking home the “Hammer Trophy” for the first time.
The two teams of talented scholar athletes battled it out in the fourth annual “Big Game” for a final score of 55 to 54 in favor of California. Nevada didn’t go down easy, with the lead changing many times throughout the game and putting up an intense fight.
A gymnasium packed with fans from both California and Nevada showcased the spirited rivalry. The TUC dance team led off the half time show and TUN’s dancers performed a tribute flash mob to retiring Dean of Students, Dr. Rebecca Mills, and Dr. Michael Harter announced the renaming of the TUN mascot in her honor. Additionally, a proclamation by the Mayor of the City of Henderson was read which declared the day as “Touro University Nevada Big Game Day.”
