Five New York Medical College Researchers Receive $1.43 Million in Grants From American Heart Association
Valhalla, N.Y. — Five researchers at New York Medical College are the recipients of grants totaling $1.43 million from the American Heart Association (AHA) to further their studies in a variety of disciplines.
Experts in Pediatric Cancer Treatment and Research to Convene for Memorial Lecture at New York Medical College
VALHALLA, N.Y. — Edward C. Halperin, M.D., M.A., chancellor for health affairs and chief executive officer of New York Medical College, will deliver the 14th Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation (PCRF) Memorial Lectureship on Tuesday, July 16 at 4:00 p.m. in Nevins Auditorium in the Medical Education Center at the College. Since 1992 the Memorial Lectureship, established by the PCRF, has honored the memory of all children who have lost a battle with cancer. Dr. Halperin will present, “The Most Serious Question Now Confronting Pediatric Radiation Oncology.” A reception will immediately follow the lecture.

Touro College and University System is pleased to announce that “Principles and Practice of Radiation Oncology, Sixth Edition,” a comprehensive reference work on cancer treatment, co-authored and edited by Edward C. Halperin, M.D., chancellor and CEO of New York Medical College (NYMC), was ‘highly commended’ by the British Medical Association (BMA) at the organization’s 2014 Medical Book Awards ceremony in London on Sept. 22.
Valhalla, N.Y. – Donald Douglas Miller, M.D., C.M., M.B.A., has been named dean of the School of Medicine at New York Medical College (NYMC) in Valhalla, NY. Dr. Miller comes to NYMC from the University of Alberta where he served as dean of faculty of medicine and dentistry as well as chair of the Health Sciences Council. An internationally recognized cardiologist and clinician-scientist, Dr. Miller has served as a leader in academic medicine and chief academic/executive officer for more than 25 years. Under Dr. Miller’s leadership, NYMC will continue to provide excellent educational, research, specialty and primary care opportunities in an atmosphere of excellence, scholarship and professionalism. Dr. Miller will also serve as the vice-provost for bio-medical affairs for the Touro College and University System, which includes NYMC. His official start date is December 15, 2014.
