New York, N.Y. – Alia Sommerville, a fourth-year medical student at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM), has been awarded a scholarship from National Medical Fellowships, Inc. (NMF), a non-profit organization that advocates for increasing the number of underrepresented minority physicians in the United States. The $5,000 award was made possible by The Lincoln Fund, a long-time supporter of the NMF and its mission.
New York, N.Y. – Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM), in conjunction with the TouroCOM-Harlem Community Advisory Board (CAB), has awarded the first round of grants from its newly-established Fund for Underrepresented Minority Students. The Fund was created to provide scholarships to needy, deserving medical students who will work to improve the health and well-being of the citizens of Harlem and other medically underserved areas upon completion of medical school.
New York, N.Y. – Nearly $66,000 was raised by the Harlem community to fund scholarships for underrepresented minorities to attend Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine at the school’s second official “parlor” meeting hosted recently by attorneys John Lynch and Sylvia Khatcherian at their home on West 116th Street in Harlem.
