During our winter break, seven of us TouroCOM students travelled to Kathmandu, Nepal, to volunteer at Sahid Memorial Hospital. After rotating through general, ICU, surgical/post-op and emergency wards at Sahid, we gained invaluable first-hand medical experience in a foreign environment.

Harlem, N.Y. - The entire 2013 graduating class of the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) in Harlem was placed in residency programs, with about half matched to primary care residencies, a key mission of the school. The graduates, who received their DO degrees in June, matched to many of the most prestigious residency programs in the country.

Middletown, N.Y. - Lieutenant Governor Robert J. Duffy joined President Kadish to officially launch the development of the new Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM) at the site of the former Horton Hospital complex in Middletown, N.Y. The ceremony was attended by local officials, members of numerous medical associations and Touro faculty and administrators.  In addition to the anticipated growth of the Orange County region’s healthcare and educational systems, speakers enthusiastically pointed out that the project is expected to serve as a boon to the local economy.

Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine (TouroCOM)-Middletown invited Middletown locals, families, and friends to its Community Open House this past Sunday, March 22. Residents of the city spent the day on campus touring the facilities, sitting in on medical school presentations, and meeting their new neighbors: the administration, faculty, medical students and staff. Dr. Kenneth J. Steier, founding dean of TouroCOM-Middletown, thanked the community for “a great turnout and tremendous support.”
