Central Islip, NY –Touro Law Center is pleased to announce two newly created $25,000 scholarships for Touro Law students: the Tsunis Family Scholarship which will support students interested in land use and/or real estate law and the Joseph M. Marger ’89 Scholarship which will support students interested in corporate or business law. These endowed scholarships add to more than $1M in new student scholarships raised over the past year, including four in the past six weeks.

Central Islip, N.Y. – Touro Law Center students Ingrid Tatiana Medina and Alexis Bullard have been selected as 2015 New York City Bar Association Diversity Fellows. Ms. Medina will be working with New York Life Insurance Company and Ms. Bullard will be working with Bank of New York Mellon.

Central Islip, N.Y. – Touro Law Center is pleased to announce new and revamped clinical programs that since this fall are providing twice the amount of clinical offerings for students. New clinics have been created in subject areas including bankruptcy, criminal defense, criminal prosecution, federal prosecution and immigration law. In addition Touro Law’s not-for-profit clinic has been revamped to include a small business component and the Veterans’ and Servicemembers’ Rights Clinic has been revitalized this semester.  Other clinic offerings include a nationally recognized disaster law clinic, an elder law clinic, the family law clinic, the disabilities law clinic, a foreclosure clinic and a senior citizens program.

Central Islip, NY – Touro Law Center’s 2013 Commencement ceremony was held on Sunday, May 26, 2013 at The New York City Center and honored 238 new graduates of Touro Law including 228 JDs (including 1 Dual Degree JD/MBA and 1 Dual Degree JD/MPA), 8 LLMs in U.S. Legal Studies, and 2 LL.M. candidates.

Central Islip, NY – Touro Law Center Dean Patricia Salkin is pleased to announce four new outstanding adjunct professors have joined the faculty and will be teaching courses in the spring semester. The new adjunct professors are: Nancy Burner, who will teach the Trusts and Estates Practice Module; The Hon. Chris Ann Kelley, who will teach Selected Topics in Criminal Justice; Anthony La Pinta who will teach Trial Practice – Criminal; and Jim Montes, who will teach Drafting Commercial Documents this semester.

Central Islip, NY - Touro Law Center Dean Patricia Salkin is pleased to announce a $25,000 grant from the United Way of Long Island’s Hurricane Sandy Relief Program. The grant will be used to provide funding for consultation with victims of Hurricane Sandy both at the law school and through regularly scheduled walk-in clinics held throughout the Long Island region.
