New York, N.Y. – Joy. Excitement. Accomplishment. Those were the three most prominent sentiments at the 40th Commencement ceremonies of Touro College’s New York School of Career and Applied Studies (NYSCAS) held at the Walt Whitman Theater in Brooklyn. Between the Manhattan and Brooklyn campuses, NYSCAS awarded 695 bachelor’s degrees and 451 associate’s degrees.

With great cheer, Dr. Steven Huberman, dean of Touro College’s Graduate School of Social Work (GSSW), welcomed attendees to the sixth annual GSSW Award Recognition Program, which honored the graduating class of 2014. The event highlighted the graduates’ special accomplishments and honored David Mandel, CEO of OHEL Children’s Home and Family Services, with a Special Lifetime of Community Service Award.

Touro College Los Angeles held their 9th graduation on June 19, 2014 at Sapper Hall, graduating 21 students, including Chaim Lowy, the valedictorian; Moishe Cohen, recipient of the business award; Rina Kamravapour recipient of the psychology award; and Ilana Drubach, recipient of the Spirit of Touro Award.

Rabbi Sacks pointed out to the parents in his divrei bracha, "We view you as mechutanim (in-laws); we share a vested interest in these boys."

Surrounded by family, faculty and staff, Lander College for Women graduates gathered one last time as students at the school. Before donning cap and gown to walk the few short blocks to the commencement ceremony at Lincoln Center, the Dean, Dr. Marian Stoltz-Loike spoke to the crowd of 150, addressing the graduates, firing them up to remake the world and leave their mark on it. Judging from the decorations on some caps, it’s a message that’s been imbued in them throughout their stay at LCW and one they’re eager to take on.
