Central Islip, NY - On Sunday, May 25, Touro Law Center celebrated the class of 2014 at the 32nd annual commencement ceremony. This year’s graduation, held at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts, honored 172 Juris Doctor candidates, 9 candidates for the LL.M. in U.S. Legal Studies as well as several December 2013 candidates including 29 Juris Doctor candidates, 1 LL.M. and 6 LL.M. in U.S. Legal Studies.

Central Islip, NY - Touro Law Center Dean Patricia Salkin is pleased to announce that the Hagedorn Foundation has awarded a $40,000 grant to support immigration law training and legal services through Touro Law’s incubator in Hauppauge, the Community Justice Center (CJC). The funds will enable Touro Law alumni practicing in the CJC to receive intensive training on representing clients with immigration issues in order to prepare them to represent clients in a law-bono fee arrangement.

Central Islip, N.Y. – Touro Law students are providing free tax help to low and moderate income community members who need help preparing their own tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). Through this public service project, sponsored by the United States Internal Revenue Service and being overseen by Bethpage Federal Credit Union, more than 25 student volunteers have been trained and can file tax returns directly from the law school, a designated site for the program. This is the fifth year Touro Law students have participated in the project.

This prestigious scholarship is awarded to a full-time student who earns the highest mark in the Jewish Law class and/or demonstrates a strong appreciation for the importance and contributions to Jewish Law.

Central Islip, NY - Touro Law Center Dean Patricia Salkin is pleased to announce a $250,000 grant from the Kermit Gitenstein Foundation to establish scholarships for two students who will be designated as Gitenstein Scholars annually. One Gitenstein Scholar is designated for a qualified student with an interest in health law and the second will be for a qualified student interested in aging and longevity law.

Soloveichik as the Fall 2014 Distinguished Lecturer on September 4, 2014 at 6:30 pm at the Lander College for Women – the Anna Ruth & Mark Hasten School located at 227 West 60th Street in New York. Rabbi Soloveichik, who is widely known as a leading Jewish thinker, theologian and public intellectual will deliver an address titled, “Jews, Christians and the Hobby Lobby Decision.”
