In her role she will teach a Health Law and Policy class and lecture in the area while building relationships within the community to further strengthen Touro Law’s programs and collaborations.

Central Islip, N.Y. – Touro Law students are providing free tax help to low and moderate income community members who need help preparing their own tax returns through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). Through this public service project, sponsored by the United States Internal Revenue Service and being overseen by Bethpage Federal Credit Union, more than 25 student volunteers have been trained and can file tax returns directly from the law school, a designated site for the program. This is the fifth year Touro Law students have participated in the project.

In her new role, she will provide leadership and training on matters relating to valuing diversity and cultural competence, and she will assist the dean in guiding the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan focused on embedding effective diversity and inclusion practices for the law school. Edwards-O’Neal will continue in her role as Senior Director of Career Services as well.

Central Islip, N.Y. – Touro Law Dean Patricia Salkin has been appointed the new co-chair of the New York State Bar Association’s Committee on Legal Education and Admission to the Bar. The influential committee is charged with studying developments in legal education and admission to the bar, maintaining adequate standards of legal education, and monitoring the bar admission process. Dean Salkin will serves with co-chair Eileen D. Millett, Esq. of the prominent national firm Epstein Becker & Green, P.C.

Central Islip, N.Y. – Touro Law Dean Patricia Salkin is pleased to announce a screening of the new documentary, "Brothers of the Black List" will take place at Touro Law on Wednesday, September 3 at 6:00 pm in the auditorium. The event is free of charge and open to the public. Following the documentary, a panel discussion will be held with an open question and answer session for audience members. Panel members include filmmaker Sean Gallagher, lawyer for the plaintiffs Scott Fein, and Kirk Allen, one of the former students featured in the film. The panel will be moderated by Touro Law Bruce K. Gould Distinguished Professor of Law Richard Klein. The event is being sponsored by the Black Law Students Association, the Criminal Law Society, the Long Island Black Bar Association (AMISTAD) and the New York Civil Liberties Union.
