Q: Who can register for an online course?
A: All Touro College students in good academic standing can register for online courses. Students on academic probation cannot register for these courses. See the student handbook for additional restrictions.

Q: When do these courses begin and end?
A: The online courses will follow basically the same schedule as LAS. Click here for current semester links, including the academic calendar.

Q: What do I do on the first day of classes?
A: Log on to http://blackboard.touro.edu with your username and password. Click here for information on your username and password.. If you need help with Blackboard, please contact the Blackboard Support Helpline at http://d2.parature.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=8090 or (866) 588-8306 .

Q: Do I have to own a computer to take an online course?
A: No, but having one at home lets you do the coursework at your convenience. You can access online courses from any computer that can access the Internet.

Q: What technology do I need to take an online course?
A: You need 3 things:

  1. Internet connection
  2. Email account
  3. Browser software (ex. Netscape Navigator, Internet Explorer, American Online)

Q: Does Touro College provide access to the Internet?
A: We have computer labs at all Touro sites that have Internet access for students working on assignments for courses.

Q: How can I get an email account if I do not have one?
A: Free email accounts are widely available online. One place you can go to sign up for a free email account is http://mail.yahoo.com.

Q: Are courses offered via the Internet any different than those traditional courses in the classroom?
A: The course content, course materials, and assignments are the same. After completion of an Internet-based course, you will have developed the same skills and have the same knowledge as traditional students. The experience of an online course will be different.

Q: Is everything, including taking exams, done via the Internet?
A: At the instructors' discretion, students may be expected to come to the College to take exams periodically.

Q: How do I register for these courses?
A: Register for these courses using regular registration procedures, using the course code listed. Then, after waiting a couple of hours after registration, login to http://blackboard.touro.edu/ and set up your email address using the Personal Information link after you login.Click here for information on your username and password..
