OT News Update

Paul Fontana, OTR, FAOTA, the Chair of the Board of Directors, American Occupational Therapy Political Action Committee visited with and lectured occupational therapy students at the Manhattan campus on Thursday, September 7, 2006. Mr. Fontana was invited by Professor Orentlicher to speak to students about the importance of AOTPAC and maintaining membership in the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA).
Aside from providing two lectures during the day, Mr. Fontana was present for the induction of a select group of occupational therapy students into Alpha Pi, the Touro College Chapter of Pi Theta Epsilon (Occupational Therapy's National Honor Society). He remained throughout the evening for thesis presentations.
Mr. Fontana also received a contribution in the amount of $1700.00 for AOTPAC. This contribution was made on behalf of the occupational therapy students classes of 2007 and 2008 Students raised the money through the sale of handmade jewelry and a new kosher cookbook they have published. The cookbook is composed of recipes from students and faculty within the program.
