Primary Responsibilities in OT Department
| Direct day to day operations of the Manhattan Campus, including assisting in the supervision of the office staff and in addressing faculty problems and issues, recruiting and mentoring new faculty, development of schedules for the department, coordinating schedules with other programs as needed, continued program evaluation, participation in budget overview, overseeing admissions and other procedures. Student advisor and advocate. |
| Professional Education & Experience |
Professor Kardachi gained a Master of Arts in Occupational Therapy in 1997 from New York University, and a Bachelor of Applied Science (OT) in 1981 from Lincoln Institute of Health Science in Melbourne, Australia. She received specialty certification in Neurodevelopmental treatment for adult hemiplegia in 2000 and has attended many continuing education workshops. She has practiced occupational therapy in Australia, England and the United States and, prior to joining the faculty at Touro College in January 2001, was Occupational Therapy supervisor of inpatient neurological and orthopedic rehabilitation at a major NYC specialty hospital.

| Clinical and Community Practice Activities & Interests |
Professor Kardachi has been practicing as an Occupational Therapist since 1981 and has worked in Australia, the UK and the US. Her areas of clinical interest and experience include neurological rehabilitation, cognition, wheelchair seating, positioning and mobility, and working with adults with developmental disabilities. She currently runs a weekly outpatient wheelchair clinic at a NYC specialty hospital, specializing in custom seating and power mobility.
