AAPA Veterans CaucusNational Health Service Corps Programs offered through the National Health Service Corps (NHSC), a component of the U.S. Public Health Service’s Bureau of Primary Health Care, recruits health care professionals for communities that lack adequate access to primary care services. The highly competitive scholarship offers payment of tuition and fees, books, supplies, and equipment for up to four years of education, as well as a monthly stipend. For each year of support, scholarship recipients must serve one year in a health professional shortage area (HPSA) on completion of training. Minimum service obligation is two years. Contact:

NHSC ScholarshipsNew York State Higher Education Services Corporation offers the New York State Regents Professional Opportunity Scholarships to students pursuing a career in the PA profession. Economically disadvantaged students who are members of a minority group historically underrepresented in the profession, and who are New York State residents are eligible. Awards range from $1000 to $5000 per year. The scholarship is accompanied by a service obligation. Contact:

NYS Education DepartmentThe New York State Society of Physician Assistants (NYSSPA) offers scholarships to student members on an annual basis. The awards are approximately $500 to $1,000 depending upon financial need, academic standing, community involvement, and total number of applications as determined by the Scholarship Committee.
