Pre-Professional Phase
WHAT IS THE
PRE-PROFESSIONAL PHASE?
The Pre-Professional Phase is a two year
Lower Division Program which offers the Liberal Arts and Sciences courses specifically
designed to meet all of the academic requirements for admission to one of the Upper
Division Programs in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Physician Assistant. The curricula provides students with a strong
didactic and laboratory background in science along with a solid foundation in the liberal
arts.
WHO SHOULD
APPLY TO THE PROGRAM?
High
School graduates from an accredited high school, as well as transfer students from other
colleges and universities interested in a career in the Allied Health Fields are
encouraged to apply. All prospective students
wishing to pursue a two-year degree and/or meet pre-requisite requirements for admission
to one of the professional Upper Division Programs.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
·
Official transcripts of all high school and college work sent directly to the
Pre-Professional Phase Admissions Office by the issuing school.
·
Standardized Test Scores must be sent.
Applicants from an accredited high school must make arrangements to submit Scholastic
Aptitude Test (SAT) and/or American College Testing Program (ACT) scores to the
Pre-Professional Phase Admissions Office. An
SAT score of at least 1000 is required for admission.

Foreign students whose native language is
not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Examination and
achieve a score of 550 or greater.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
·
College transfer students will be
awarded transfer credit for course work completed where appropriate.
·
Science courses being transferred must be designed for science majors.
·
Science courses 10 years old or more will be reviewed to determine if refresher
courses are needed.
·
All applicants must show evidence of some type of healthcare exposure.
·
Two letters of recommendation must be sent directly to the Pre-Professional Phase
Admissions Office from your references.
REQUIREMENTS
FOR UPPER DIVISION PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS
All students must complete at least a minimum of
60 credits to be eligible to apply for admission to the Upper Division.
EARLY DECISION PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS
A student admitted into the Pre-Professional
Program from high school may, after admission, apply directly to the Upper Division
Professional Program of choice. Applicants
must have an SAT score of at least 1100, and an overall GPA of at least 85%. Applicants must submit to an interview and meet
Program requirements for admission. If
accepted, the student must then maintain minimum requirements as specified by the
Professional Program of choice throughout his/her Pre-Professional studies. If the minimum requirements are maintained, the
student will then continue into the professional phase of his/her education uninterrupted.
FINANCIAL AID
Financial Aid is available to all qualified
students. Specific information will be made
available to students accepted into the Pre-Professional Program.
ASSOCIATE IN ARTS DEGREE
The Associate in Arts Degree will be available to
those students who desire it and meet the requirement of taking at least one course at the
Main Campus in New York City and upon satisfactory completion of a minimum of 60 credits
of prescribed and elective subjects. For
students transferring credits with a grade of C or better from an accredited college or
university, a minimum of 24 credits must be completed at Touro College in order to be
eligible to be awarded an Associate in Arts Degree from Touro College.
