Touro College of Dental Medicine
Though she grew up in a house with a physician mother and dentist father, Sara Sanjari was always interested in a career as a researcher. It wasn’t until her close friend began dental school that Sanjari even thought about pursuing dentistry as a profession. “I watched her do preparations and restorations in her dental school simulation lab and it seemed more like an artwork than just completing a procedure. It seemed like something I could enjoy doing long term,” she says.
Sanjari also had the benefit of seeing her father in practice and understood the expectations involved and the future of the field. She began to think she may have more passion for dentistry than research. “I still enjoy assisting in research projects, but I love the prospect of dentistry as a career. I love what I’m learning in dental school,” Sara says.
Sara knew Touro Dental was the right place for her from her initial interview. “I believe I flourish in a cooperative and friendly environment. During my interview, I got that impression of Touro. Everyone was very friendly, and it felt like it wasn’t about individuals working alone but everyone coming together to help get through our journey at Touro,” Sanjari explains. She appreciates the personalized attention and support of the faculty. “They’re passionate about teaching and they’re experienced in clinic, which will help us succeed in future residencies or practices. I am very excited to be a dentist in the future.”
