Machon L’Parnasa, a division of Touro College, was established in 1998. The Institute offers Programs on a professional entry level that will lead to a certificate and/or associate degree upon successful completion. Machon L’Parnasa schedule of classes and Program curriculums is geared to the Chassidic/Chareidi communities. Touro College, following its mission and goals, seeks to assist this community.
Students’ needs are met via classes that are small, individualized and taught in separate buildings for men and women. The Institute provides academic training for professional as well as basic linguistic skills required to meet the necessities of today’s professional job market.
Six years ago Machon L’Parnasa opened with less than 100 students. Today, the Institute has an enrollment of 300 and has successfully graduated students of four certificate programs. A large majority of our graduates exposed to the possibilities of higher education have opted to continue their education leading to a baccalaureate degree.
The uniqueness of Machon L’Parnasa is that it offers the opportunity for the students to earn their degree in stages. The student can receive a certificate (one-year) and then an associate degree after two years of study. The student can then continue studies leading to a baccalaureate degree program at any of Touro’s campuses. The Institute offers flexible course schedules to meet the needs of the adult population by offering classes during the day, evenings and on Sundays.
The Associate and Certificate Programs offered include:
- Accounting
- Medical Coding and Billing
- Desktop Publishing
- Business Administration
- Human and Community Services
- For education majors, we offer courses in Education and Special Education leading to a baccalaureate degree.
