Leadership Academy at Touro University (LATU formerly TCALM)

Program Description

Touro University seeks to identify and retain talented and skilled academic faculty by providing them with an opportunity to participate in an innovative leadership development and management preparation program. The Leadership Academy at Touro University (LATU) builds on the individual strengths of the participants through lectures, problem-based learning, and team-building experiences designed to prepare participants for potential advancement and increased leadership responsibilities, both within and outside the institution. Participation is open to faculty from any Touro University campus throughout the system. The LATU program includes:

  • Guest speakers from Touro faculty, administrators from various departments and schools, and external subject matter experts
  • Community/team building activities
  • Required readings
  • Collaboration on an action research project proposal (Note: Project proposals that are approved by Touro senior leadership require a commitment to see them through development and implementation. Accepted projects will be supported by the Office of the Provost).

The program consists of nine full-day sessions on one Thursday each month, beginning January 25, 2024, through December 19, 2024, excluding the months of July and August. The first and last sessions will be held onsite in New York City. Applicants and the supervisors who recommend them should plan to support the selected cohort members from other locations to attend these sessions. The remainder of the sessions will be held via video conference.

Successful completion of the Academy provides recognition of accomplishment and leadership skills but does not guarantee internal advancement in academic administration.
