For Jimmy Jiang, a job as a physician assistant (PA) meant a career in medicine that also offered flexibility. As Jimmy explains, “If I am working in one specialty and want to try something different, as a PA it would be easier to transition. That is what drew me in.”

As graduation from the School of Health Sciences of Touro University nears, Jiang is hopeful to begin working in in-patient internal medicine. “I would like to coordinate with other healthcare providers/professionals to manage patients admitted to the hospital for a broad variety of issues/diagnosis,” he says.

Jiang is thankful to Touro for ensuring he is prepared to take on this challenging role. “Touro prepared me well and made sure that I was beyond ready to take and pass the PA board certification exam. They were also able to help me with my resume and cover letters for the real world,” Jimmy says.

Choosing a career in medicine is a big decision. Jimmy advises anyone interested in the field to shadow a PA. “This gives students first-hand insight on what it’s like to work as a PA in a specific field and allows them to ask questions regarding their PA school experience.”
