Objectives
Academic Issues
  1. To educate qualified students to become osteopathic physicians.
  2. To promote the practice and principles of Osteopathic Medicine throughout the educational curriculum and program.
  3. To demonstrate the management and care of patients whose conditions of health deviate from normal with an emphasis on primary care.
  4. To demonstrate the use of health education and disease prevention in total patient care.
  5. To demonstrate appropriate use of modern and future developing technologies in the making of medical decisions.
  6. To impart to students appropriate knowledge of the psychosocial, economic and legal environment within which the practice of Osteopathic Medicine functions.
  7. To incorporate into the curriculum research that pertains to Osteopathic Medicine and to health care delivery.
Strategic Planning
  1. To demonstrate an understanding of the distinctive medical issues existing in culturally diverse communities.
  2. To promote the delivery of Osteopathic healthcare and cultural competence in healthcare delivery to the community served.
  3. To realize increased representation of underrepresented minorities in the student body.
Harlem Community
  1. To establish a community outreach program to promote the awareness of Osteopathic medical care in local schools, colleges and universities.
  2. To identify potential students from the Harlem community and help to prepare them for the medical school program.
  3. To establish a medical clinic in Harlem or partner with existing clinics where osteopathic medical care can be provided and to establish partnerships with existing clinics and school-based programs in the near future.
