Harnessing the Power of Simulation: Real-World Applications in Professional Programs
In this presentation, we will explore the effective utilization of simulated real-world scenarios as a valuable tool for enhancing learning experiences in professional education. Simulation involves recreating real-life professional scenarios in a controlled environment which may include using high-fidelity mannequins, actors, and/or mock working environments. This approach offers numerous benefits in developing clinical skills, critical thinking, and teamwork among students.
Laura Hagan, PhD, DPT, is an associate professor for the Physical Therapy Program at the Manhattan Campus of Touro University and has been incorporating simulated learning experiences into the DPT curriculum for the past decade. Dr. Hagan has published peer-reviewed research on the use of simulation as a remediation strategy and as a way to enhance interprofessional practice among OT and PT students.
