Nationally Recognized Fundraising Leader Brings Decades of Advancement, Expertise, and a Track Record of Securing More Than $1 Billion in Philanthropic Support

Touro University has appointed William (Bill) Miller as Vice President for Institutional Advancement, where he will lead the university's fundraising, donor engagement, alumni relations, and advancement initiatives. Miller is a nationally recognized fundraising and philanthropic leader whose distinguished career spans higher education, human services, faith-based organizations, and other nonprofit sectors. Over several decades, he has designed, led, and advised fundraising initiatives that have generated more than $1 billion in philanthropic support, helping organizations secure transformational gifts, build sustainable advancement programs, and strengthen institutional capacity.

Most recently, Miller served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Kean University Foundation, where he led efforts to advance the university's mission through strategic philanthropy. During his eight-year tenure, the foundation nearly quadrupled its assets under management and secured several of the largest philanthropic commitments in Kean University's history. These efforts expanded scholarship opportunities, established endowed professorships, enhanced academic programs, and supported major facility improvements.

Prior to Kean University, Miller served as Regional Chief Development Officer for the American Red Cross in New Jersey and also served as a fundraising consultant with CCS Fundraising. In those roles, he provided strategic leadership for comprehensive advancement programs and helped drive significant growth in philanthropic support. He also advised organizations on campaign strategy, organizational development, and philanthropic growth.

Miller is among a select group of professionals worldwide to hold both the Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) credential and the Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy® (CAP®) designation. His contributions to the advancement profession have been recognized through numerous honors, including the Robert J. Smythe Award for Outstanding Professional Fundraiser.

As Vice President for Institutional Advancement, Miller will oversee efforts to expand philanthropic support and deepen engagement with alumni, donors, parents, foundations, corporations, and other partners. He will play a key role in advancing Touro's mission and strengthening the university's capacity to serve students and communities across its growing network of schools and programs.
