Professor Doyle brings a broad range of organizational and educational experience to his new role that includes interactive content development, instructional technology, digital animation and most recently, game design. 

An adjunct professor at Touro College Graduate School of Technology (GST) since 2003, Prof. Doyle has taught undergraduate level courses in web, multimedia and graphic design, and developed curriculum for the school’s MS in instructional technology program. Previously, he taught at Marymount Manhattan College, City University of New York Kingsborough Community College and several private schools in New York City.

Prof. Doyle said his background in studio art is “the common thread” that has enriched his skills in animation, web design, interactive course development and game-based instruction for future technology graduates.   

“Helping our students learn to work as part of a team to successfully launch productions, products and interactive content is our goal,” said Prof. Doyle. “We are looking to form partnerships that allow students to become interns where they can gain valuable and practical hands-on experience.”

As a sought-after independent consultant, Prof. Doyle developed online educational programs for the Metropolitan Museum and WNET/Thirteen. He also co-founded the interactive game design curriculum, "Quest to Learn," for the New York City Department of Education, which was featured in The New York Times. 

“Students need to learn how to learn because this field is constantly evolving. What’s hot today may become outdated next year, but students who are lifelong learners and passionate about the field will stay on top of best practices and new technology and become valued employees,” said Prof. Doyle.

Prof. Doyle received his undergraduate degree in Art Education from SUNY New Paltz and a master’s degree in Studio Art and Printmaking from New York University.  He has also received advanced training in game design and architecture.  

Issac Herskowitz, Dean of the Graduate School of Technology, said Prof. Doyle is well qualified to prepare students for up-to-the-minute developments in the technology they need to master in order to build strong careers.

“We are especially excited that Prof. Doyle will be heading up our Web and Multimedia Design Program,” said Dean Herskowitz. “He is one of the country's experts in educational game design and his vast industry experience will be a great asset to Touro.”
