New York, New York – It was “National Physician Assistant Week!” Held every year in the United States from October 6 through October 12, National Physician Assistant Week is a celebration of the physician assistant (PA) profession. This week was chosen to commemorate the anniversary of the first graduating PA class at Duke University on October 6, 1967. PAs across the country use National PA Week to increase awareness of both the PA profession and the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
As part of the celebration, students from the Touro College School of Health Sciences Manhattan Physician Assistant Program visited the New York State Society of Physician Assistants’ (NYSSPA) annual Continuing Medical Education Conference in Saratoga Springs, New York. Also in celebration of National PA Week, Touro students and faculty held a blood drive and participated in an interprofessional symposium on healthcare quality.
