Thomas Modero was appointed  Chief Human Resources Officer for the Touro College and University System, Touro President Dr. Alan Kadish announced today.

Modero previously served as Senior Director for HR Strategy and Solutions at New York University, where he led the delivery of HR services and projects for University Administration, Global Programs and selected schools and institutes.  Modero was the initial Human Resources Officer responsible for the creation of NYU Shanghai and the launch of the College of Global Public Health.

“Tom Modero is a leader in human resources and we know he will help Touro accomplish key goals in this area,” said Kadish.

“His implementation of ‘HR Business Partner’, an approach to Human Resources that values collaboration with leadership and managers to build organizational capabilities, will serve Touro well. Tom has already applied this strategy successfully in educational settings and we look forward to working with him at Touro,” said Jeffrey Rosengarten, Senior Vice President for Operations at Touro.

Prior to his position at NYU, Modero was head of HR for The Princeton Review, Edison Schools (now EdisonLearning), Panasonic Corporation’s North American Industrial Sector and Lucent Technologies’ Global Wireless Products Group. He earned his BA in Economics from Saint Peter’s College and an MBA in Management from Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Modero believes strongly in the responsibility of HR to provide a foundation of support to faculty and academic leaders.  “HR has no higher mission than to be a steward of the culture that supports faculty, staff and students in the achievement of their academic and career objectives. I am thrilled to have this opportunity to serve Touro, where it is so very clear that the expression ‘Where Knowledge and Values Meet’ truly represents the heart of this great institution.”
