The state-of-the-art Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities (Center) at Touro University Nevada is committed to serving children and families in the Southern Nevada community. Each month, the Center’s multidisciplinary clinicians provide diagnosis and therapy for approximately 400 patient visits. For many of these families, the diagnosis of a developmental disorder is forever life-changing and financially devastating.

Families that utilize treatment plans for Autism or other developmental disabilities quickly realize the costs that can accumulate when a child needs multiple services. While the Center accepts many forms of insurance, the co-pays can be burdensome as well.  Families are eligible to apply for grants that are financed throughout the year by community donors and funding like that from the Dave Rice Foundation. These funds are available to help off-set the costs and can be used for any of the Center’s services including neuropsychological evaluations, occupational therapy, speech therapy, applied behavior analysis and social skills classes.

 “The generosity of the Dave Rice Foundation is overwhelming,” said Center Director Dr. Nicole Cavenagh. “This grant will allow for many families seen here at the Center to continue much needed care for those who might otherwise not be able to afford treatment. It is our goal at Touro University Nevada to provide comprehensive care and encourage community support for those families with children who have a diagnosis of Autism or other developmental disability.”

Diagnosis and treatment are offered at the Center for children ranging from 18 months to 12 years old for a wide range of developmental issues including Autism, Asperger’s syndrome, Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, Learning disabilities, Mental retardation, and other developmental disabilities.
