Women's Leadership Council commemorated Yom Hashoah with an event featuring Irene Hizme
The Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust, together with the Lander College for Women, The Anna Ruth and Mark Hasten School, and the Women's Leadership Council commemorated Yom Hashoah with an event featuring Irene Hizme, survivor of Auschwitz and a "Mengele Twin," as well as Ambassador Amiram Magid of the Israel Mission to the United Nations.
Irene was accompanied by her twin brother Rene Slotkin, both the subjects of the moving documentary "Rene and I." Participants included representatives of more than a dozen Jewish NGOs accredited to the United Nations. The event took place at the Lander College for Women, and was made possible with the tremendous help of Dr. Karen Sutton, Director, Honors Program, Lander College for Women and Donne Kampel, the President of the Women's Leadership Council at Touro College, key organizers of the event.
