The Touro Institute on Human Rights and the Holocaust, together with the Lander College for Women, The Anna Ruth and Mark Hasten School, and the Touro College Graduate School of Social Work, held "An Evening of Reflection and Remembrance" commemorating the 75th anniversary of Kristallnacht.
Speakers were Dr. Alan Kadish, President and CEO, Touro College and University System; Dr. Mark Hasten, who was a member of the Polish Army, a liberator of Majdanek concentration camp, served in Israel's war of independence, and is Chairman of the Board, Touro College and University System; and Mr. David Greenbaum, who was born in Nuremburg, Germany and is a Kristallnacht survivor. The evening also included a film clip of the events of Kristallnacht, and the story of Herschel Grynszpan, as well as the reading of the poem "Crystal Night" by American poet Lyn Lifshin. The event attracted more than 100 members of the Touro and New York communities.
