Prelaw Advisement
Preparing for Law School
Touro provides you with many opportunities to prepare for law school.
First, Touro has excellent prelaw advisors. The principal prelaw advisor is Tom Rozinski, who has over 20 years of advising experience. He holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School and taught at the University of Michigan Law School before coming to Touro in 2006. He is available to talk to you whether you are first exploring law, selecting undergraduate courses, or preparing your application materials. You need not be enrolled at Touro to consult its prelaw advisers, but you must have previously attended Touro.
There is no required course of study for prelaw students. They can major in any field. However, law students are four times more likely to have majored in Political Science. One reason is that Political Science departments offer numerous courses that provide the skills necessary for success in law school. Students who attend law school are expected to be proficient in analytical reasoning, making and refuting arguments, and in oral and written communication. There are several political science courses that provide extensive training in these skills. And there are a few other ways for you to optimize your preparation for law school.
